The field is set for the 2012 USTA Jr. Team Tennis Middle States Section Championships, as teams from across Middle States compete for a chance to represent the Section at the National Championships in Cayce and Lexington, S.C., in October.
Play begins at 9 a.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 1 at the Mercer County Tennis Complex in West Windsor, N.J., and will wrap up Friday afternoon. Co-ed teams from various age levels and divisions will be on hand. That includes 18 Advanced, 18 Intermediate, 14 Advanced, 14 Intermediate and 12 Intermediate. Although the 12 Division does not advance to Nationals, Middle States sponsors this division in its Section Championships to create an awareness of the game.

What is Jr. Team Tennis?
USTA Jr. Team Tennis (JTT) is designed for kids ages 5-18. It brings kids together in a team to play singles, doubles and mixed doubles against other teams. The head-to-head matches are played in a format similar to World TeamTennis, with the team taking the most overall games winning the match. JTT is designed to emphasize the team aspect of tennis, and provide a friendly, social atmosphere in which kids can play. Click here to learn how to start a league in your area.
