Golf fans will have their eyes fixed on sun-soaked Florida for the Honda Classic this week, but it looks like one standout golfer might have his eyes set somewhere else.
Matt Kuchar, who won the WGC Accenture Match Play Championship on Sunday, actually looks to tennis for family time, training, and even a way to get back to his roots.
Kuchar grew up playing tennis and even said at one point he had hopes of becoming a pro tennis player before ultimately picking golf. His father was a collegiate tennis player, as was his wife, Sybi, a former Georgia Tech standout. His brother-in-law also played in college.
Considering Kuchar isn’t in the field this week in Florida, there’s a chance he may be out on the court.
This story from a few years back explains his interest a bit more.
Maybe when he’s in town for June’s US Open at Merion, Kuchar and the family will make their way to the local tennis courts for a few matches.
