Lisa Raymond and her 11 Grand Slam titles are home again.
For the past week, Raymond, one of the world’s most accomplished doubles players, has been all over Greater Philadelphia to share her experiences with those in the community and help promote the upcoming season for the Philadelphia Freedoms.
A former Freedoms player herself, Raymond began her Philly tour last week at a Freedoms luncheon, where she spoke about her connection to the Philadelphia are and her experiences on tour, at the Olympics and all over the world. The Norristown, Pa. native said she is thrilled to be back in the area to promote the sport she loves, and is looking forward to the next several years to see where her career in tennis takes her. She added that she will stay involved with the game – on many levels – for years to come.
Friday night, Raymond participated in a doubles match with former top-20 player Tatiana Panova against Freedoms coach Josh Cohen and Pascal Collard, the Director of Tennis at Merion Cricket Club.
This week, Raymond’s schedule includes stops at several local clubs and facilities, where she is meeting with league players and other tennis fans.
