Thirty-three teams took to the tennis courts in central Pennsylvania over the weekend, each competing for a USTA League Tennis Middle States Championship.
In front of friends, families and a community of league tennis players, seven teams were crowned champs. On a cool, fall weekend in Lancaster, winning teams earned a spot in USTA League Tennis 55 and Over National Championships, which will take place next spring throughout April, 2014, in Surprise, Ariz.
Champion teams fought through three days of sporadic weather and marathon matches before being crowned champs on Sunday afternoon. Action took place at Hempfield Rec, Lancaster Tennis and Yacht Club, and Racquet Club West.

USTA League is the country’s largest recreational tennis league, helping more than 800,000 participants, nationwide, get on the court, have a good time, and step up their game in a supportive and competitive team setting.
Teams and matches are set up so your teammates and opponents will be at your skill level. Teams are made up of a minimum of five to eight players depending upon Division and Age Group, and the very best at the USTA section level can earn a shot at travel, high-stakes tennis and a national championship each year at renowned facilities that have hosted ATP, WTA, Davis & Fed Cup events.
