Sectional qualifying of the US Open National Playoffs in Middle States wrapped up Wednesday night in front of several hundred fans at Mercer County Tennis Center.
In the end, the 200-plus original entrants battled it out in five divisions. The winners in men’s and women’s singles, men’s and women’s doubles and mixed doubles now advance to the US Open National Playoffs final stage, which takes place in New Haven, Conn. August 21-29.
There were a number of returning champs from years past, including Nathan Healey, Jennifer Elie and Matija Pecotic. Elie was the women’s singles champ in 2014, while Pecotic won singles and mixed doubles in 2013. He did not compete in 2014. Healey won in singles and mixed doubles in 2011.
Play began on Saturday morning and continued through late Wednesday night, with finals taking place at 2 p.m., 4 p.m., 6 p.m. and 8 p.m. The women’s doubles final was played Tuesday at 1 p.m.

Women’s Singles: Jennifer Elie d. Katharine Fahey: 6-2, 6-3
Men’s Singles: Matija Pecotic d. James Wasserman: 6-2, 6-2
Mens’ Doubles: Nathan Healey and Ashley Fisher d. Timothy Chang and Daniel Chang: 6-4, 6-4
