The Philadelphia Freedoms are back and ready to begin their 2015 home tennis campaign.
Serena Williams, The Bryan Brothers, and Genie Bouchard are just some of the big names coming to the Villanova University Pavilion this summer.
This year the Freedoms, led by Marcelo Melo, Robby Ginepri, and Taylor Townsend, have high expectations.
The first home match will take place Thursday, July 16 at 7 p.m., but the season began on the road this past Sunday, July 12 against the Springfield Lobsters. The Freedoms are currently 1-2.
The Philadelphia Freedoms welcome Canine Partners for Life’s furry friends, Cal and Teddie, to serve as ball dogs during special halftime exhibition matches at on Friday, July 17 and Monday, July 20.
Prior to each home match, USTA Middle States will have a table set up where fans can enter to win a US Open gear prize pack and share their #Love2Play tennis stories.
Below is a schedule of home matches this season as well as an overview of some of the exciting events taking place at the Pavilion:
Thursday, July 16 | Boston Lobsters
In the first home match of the year, the Freedoms will celebrate Mylan World TeamTennis (WTT) 40 “Retro Night.” In recognition of the Mylan WTT league’s 40th season, the Freedoms are encouraging fans to celebrate the 1970’s by offering a $10 ticket. All fans in attendance will receive a 1970’s-inspired gift.
Friday, July 17 | Washington Kastles
The Freedoms are back in action with a special Kids & Families Night: “Nettie King’s Birthday.” The first 250 kids in attendance will receive a FREE junior tennis racquet.
Sunday, July 19 | Springfield Lasers
The Freedoms take on the Lasers, featuring John Isner and Pittsburgh native, Alison Riske.
Monday, July 20 | Washington Kastles
World No. 1 Serena Williams will headline this highly-anticipated matchup. Williams, who is fresh off her French Open and Wimbledon titles, is making a rare trip to Philadelphia.
Thursday, July 23 | Austin Aces
Thursday is “Philadelphia 76ers Night” and also “Girls Night Out.” This night will include Sixers freebies, and for all women, a pre-match party catered by Winnie’s Le Bus Manayunk menu, complimentary wine and beer pairings and appearances by Freedoms players.
Sunday, July 26 | California Dream
Sunday is “BBQ Night and Pre-Match Block Party” with visiting marquees, the Bryan Brothers. Come early and enjoy a pre-match block party that will open at 6:30 p.m. and feature, live music and a special musical performance from the Bryan Brothers.
Tuesday, July 28 | Boston Lobsters
For the final home game the Freedoms will host 2014 Wimbledon finalist and current world No. 7 Genie Bouchard. It is also “Philadelphia Flyers Night” and many Flyers alumni will be in attendance.
