Nearly 20 junior players gathered at The Tennis Zone in Quakertown, Pa. Sunday afternoon for a Middle States Early Development Camp.
Otherwise known as EDCs, USTA Early Development Camps were developed to develop American players through a clearly-defined pathway, as well as through a comprehensive coaching philosophy and structure. The EDCs are part of the USTA pathway, providing young players with more player development training opportunities within Middle States.
Open to players from throughout the Section based on coaches recommendations, the camps run four times per year in Eastern Pa., and four times per year in Western Pa.
Sunday’s EDC included five of the area’s top coaches, including Devin Crawbuck (Mercer County Tennis Center), Kyle Coliluori (Center Court Sports), Vince Giannone (Kinetix Sports Club), Mark O’Neil (Hillcrest Tennis Club) and Istvan Szabo (Julian Krinsky School of Tennis). The camp was led by Middle States Early Development Faculty Coach, Seth Walrath.
