Several players local to USTA Middle States traveled thousands of miles to Wimbledon this week, where they’re competing for the grass court championship.
Main draw action began Monday, July 2 at the All-England Club. Final matches are scheduled for July 15.
Four players who either reside or grew up in the Middle States area (Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Delaware) are competing in this year’s championship.
Alison Riske (Pittsburgh, Pa.) and Madison Brengle (Dover, Del.) advanced to the third round of Wimbledon in 2017. Varvara Lepchenko (Allentown, Pa.) has also made it to the third round in previous years.
Jennifer Brady (Harrisburg, Pa) reached the second round in 2017, and is currently at a career-high ranking of No. 74.
