Tennis Invades Rodney Square

More than 800 Wilmington city youth participated in the seventeenth annual Tennis in the Streets event on Friday, May 11 in Rodney Square.

The event was held in conjunction with USA Tennis Month, an annual national initiative to promote the sport through activities, clinics, and exhibitions.

The United States Professional Tennis Association (USPTA) and Wilmington Department of Parks and Recreation co-hosted the event.  Other tennis partners included: Rodney Street Tennis and Tutoring, USTA Middle States and USTA MS Delaware District. The kids enjoyed free food and entertainment, as well as the opportunity to learn some tennis.

“The partnership between the USPTA, USTA MS Delaware District, and City of Wilmington Department of Parks and Recreation is in the true spirit of growing the game of tennis. By sharing our passion, we hope to change a child’s life,” said Jackie Roe, President of USPTA Delaware.
