If you’re interested in becoming a certified court monitor, Middle States is providing several opportunities for you to do so. Court monitors attend USTA Junior Tournaments and work with certified officials to ensure the smooth and fair running of tournament play.
USTA Middle States Junior Tournaments now require Court Monitors at most junior tournaments.
USTA Middle States will be hosting various training sessions between May and October for anyone interested in becoming a certified court monitor.
A volunteer becomes a certified court monitor immediately after attending one training session. This is an opportunity to integrate court monitors into junior tournaments and introduce them to USTA Officiating opportunities. You can learn how to become a USTA Provisional Official and then a USTA Certified Official. Often times, court monitors are compensated at the discretion of the tournament director.
These two and a half hour on-court training sessions are scheduled at Sanctioned USTA Middle States Junior Tournaments. We will provide lunch and mileage reimbursement (up to $50).
Attend one scheduled training session, complete a background check and you are eligible to start monitoring at junior tournaments. You will also receive a USTA Court Monitor shirt upon completion of the requirement.
If you were thinking about becoming a USTA Official, this is a great introduction.
