Hitting balls, over and over, off the garage door: that is how Max Spodik was introduced to the game of tennis by his father at the age of 5. These days, his training regimen is a little bit more extensive.
Spodik attended the Nike Tennis Camp at the Lawrenceville School in New Jersey last summer and after just one week of training, he felt improvement in several areas of his game.
“I learned how to be more competitive, and I improved my skills and technique,” he said.
His improvements throughout the week proved to be effective as he won the end-of-week doubles tournament.
Each Nike Tennis camp offers six hours of training daily with a variety of different programs including All Skills, Tournament, and High School training. Spodik will take all of the skills he learned from last summer’s camp and implement them into USTA Tournament and Junior Team Tennis play.
He has already seen some success in tournament play, winning a 10 and Under Princeton Tennis Program tournament, and a 10 and Under NJTL Tournament. His future tennis goals are even more impressive.
“I hope one day I can win a US Open Title,” he said.
