Local Teams Compete in Liberty Bell Bash

Several junior tennis teams from Pennsylvania and Delaware gathered in Philadelphia on Saturday, May 18 for the annual USTA Middle States Liberty Bell Bash.

Taking place at Legacy Youth Tennis and Education, the Liberty Bell Bash brings teams together for play in singles and doubles formats.

Each team was comprised of two high-level girls and boys players, selected by the coaches of their respective clubs or organizations. The clubs and organizations who competed included Legacy Youth Tennis and Education, Birchwood Tennis & Fitness Club, Frog Hollow Racquet Club, Julian Krinsky School of Tennis, Hopewell Tennis and Swim Center, Hempfield recCenter, Advantage Tennis Club and Wilmington Country Club.

The event consisted of two separate tournaments, with the first half of the day focusing on players 10 and younger. These players played on a shortened 60-foot court and played with low compression orange balls. The afternoon brought in players in the 12U category, competing on a full sized court and utilizing low compression green dot balls.

In the end, Frog Hollow 1 were the champions in the 10U division, with Legacy Red coming in a close second. For the 12U division, Net Gen 1 (a combined team of players from HPTA and Birchwood) took first place, with Frog Hollow earning the second place position.
