Shraiy Gupta gives his all when it comes to Junior Team Tennis (JTT). And when the 17-year-old travels with his NJTL of Trenton (NJTLT) team to Middle States Section Championships next week, anyone watching will his commanding presence and effort on the court. .
Gupta started playing tennis at age 10, and has been involved in JTT for the past five years. Recently, he and NJTL of Trenton won the district title in the 18 Intermediate division of JTT.
From the first time he played JTT, Gupta has been hooked.
“There is so much excitement on the court,” he said. “When parents and teammates are cheering, there is never a dull moment.”
When he is not competing himself, Gupta finds it rewarding to coach younger JTT players. He often helps coach the 10 and 12 and under teams from NJTLT. He says Junior Team Tennis is all about building character and unity on the court.
“We have a lot of team practices at Cadwalader Park,” he added. “There are great coaches and it is an all-around great program.”
